Abstract
In this talk, I will introduce the basic setup of min-max method, and how to use it to construct special geometric objects. In particular, I will discuss how to use min-max method to construct free boundary minimal surfaces in a compact manifold with boundary. Our work generalizes the min-max construction of minimal surfaces using harmonic replacement introduced by Colding-Minicozzi. This is a joint work with Longzhi Lin and Xin Zhou.
