Abstract:
The last decade has witnessed the tremendous growth of research that bridges the nano technology and biological science. A wide range of new multidisciplinary fields, such as nanomedicine, nanobiosensor, nanofluidics, and nanorobotics, have been created and will significantly impact the landscape of scientific research in decades to come.
In this talk, I will discuss some recent progresses in the modeling and simulation of a few areas, including nano-electronic devices, biomolecular sovations, ion channel dynamics, proton transport, nanobiosensors and nanofluidic systems. A new multiscale paradigm, the differential geometry based multiscale variational framework, has been developed in my group for the understanding of the abovementioned nano-bio systems.
